Jon Gosselin "Very Relieved" Kate Plus 8 Was Cancelled

Jon Gosselin has been off the airwaves for a while now -- and now his ex-wife Kate Gosselin will be off the small screen, too, following the cancellation of Kate Plus 8, announced Monday.
Jon, 34, told Radar he's "very relieved" that the TLC show (originally Jon and Kate Plus 8, which debuted in April 2007) -- because the eight kids he shares with Kate, 36, can potentially have a normal life sans TV cameras.

"I hope they can have more private family moments," he said of twins Cara and Maddie, 10, and 7-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel.
"I hope that this will bring more privacy to my children and that they can get the proper attention they need for any personal issues they might have in the future."

Sparking a media firestorm, he and Kate announced their separation in June 2009.
"Contracts have to end at some point," he said of the show. "I think everything had run its course and it was time to come to an end anyways."
What is Kate doing next? "I have no clue," Jon says. "I hope she dedicates more time to the kids now and I wish her the best as she goes forward with whatever career she wants to pursue."

Jon is only allowed to see the kids as much as KATE allows him to! He tried to get more time with them and SHE (Kate) denied him the opportunity! HE's the one who wanted to stop the exploitation of the kids. She however wanted to keep using the kids as income. She doesn't mother, as she has multiple nannies and kid wranglers to care for the kids. Did she say that after Kate + 8 she'd spend more time at home? Nope she said she's going to be doing a LOT of speaking engagements. I'm sorry but I have 8 kids and I choose to be a mother to them and I don't use them to be THEIR meal ticket or mine, and I CHOOSE to be their parent 24/7 and not when I can schedule it in. Jon is the better parent and Kate is an abusive control freak. It's no wonder she loses so many nannies left and right. No one can stand her, who actually have to interact with her on a daily basis.
I have to say this to Mary Ford who is way down there on the comment line - consider this Mary, Jon shouldn't have to support the mother of his kids anymore than she EVER supported him. Remember?? Women want equal rights now. That means fend for yourself. Oh and by the way, in this world - its the woman's right to choose remember?? It's their body and they make all the decisions..such was the case here. Kate wanted more children, Kate took the fertility drugs. Kate made the babies, Jon was just the sperm donor. Wait, that is just how she treated him...maybe he's more.
The 'reality' of this situation is that these kids have grown up in front of the cameras. That has been THEIR normal life. Now they will have to get used to living like everyone else without all the camera and sound people and living life in a much simpler way and I think its safe to say that that will be a huge adjustment for them. These kids have traveled more in their short lives than most of us will ever do in our lifetimes. I hope that Kate invested well because she has certainly become accustomed to a particular lifestyle as well. I'm sure the paparazzi will catch up with them every now and then but for the kids sake, I hope that interest wanes and these kids can learn to become the 'decent and productive' human beings that Kate claims she strives for in each of her kids. Its not something I would have ever done as I don't even want the slightest details about my kids on their Facebook pages but none of us have ever walked in their shoes. They chose to bring those children into the world and they were quite fortunate for the TLC experience. Now the real work begins.
When Jon had the chance he hopped right into the limelight. Have no respect for this man at all. Kate too, has changed this past year. Quite self serving and like a diva.
Ohh sure he is relieved. How much privacy he can bring to his kids? and the proper attention ? To whom?
Jon is out of the limelight, which is great..he's a waste. She will pop up I bet, somewhere, but her 15 mins. are up, and I liked her once. Not really any more.
Jon, the loser, ;last I heard sees his kids only 4 days a month, and shacks up with some chippie in her early 20's. To me, he is a total loser, and his behavior is obnoxious.
Yes Jon is working , and yes he pay's his fair share of support, do I feel sorry for Kate no, I'm glad that, TLC finally pulled the plug on that dumb a__ show.

I am sure Jon paid as much as he could. I think it was over 20,000 or so per kid. I don`t know if it was ever changed once he got a job or not. Of course, he pays what he can or it would all over the news.

so glad it's being cancelled @Jes Gibson he SHOULD pay child support. they are his kids too, he should take responsibility, just like EVERY man should take care of their kids, EMOTIONALLY AND FINACIALLY. even if she was a millionare and he worked at mcdonalds, he should still pay child support. if he had custody, then she should give him child support, reguardless of anyone's finacial situation
Without exploiting them I wonder how they can support them? I she has stated there is no way she can support them on a nurse's salary which I find is a bunch of BS, other people can do it. I wonder what her next project is to make money off of them. Just because TLC cancelled does not mean she is off the air completely. I doubt it, Kate likes the attention and money way too much. How will she do without her body guard. Not to mention without all the paid people around her, who does she have as a friend or even family. I do have to this photo of her is unflattering. She looks way older. Let us hope that she put money away to help her support the children since this was ALWAYS about the children.

Sure she's only 36? I think I saw a Sequioa tree that looked younger than her.
It is like going from rags to riches and back down again (maybe not as far down), must be hard. She must make good income from reruns and other things. I wonder how much child support Jon pays.
go back to nursing Kate, put everything you have from the show in the bank and start living a normal life!!
