Kara DioGuardi says she and Katy Perry were joking around on Tuesday night's American Idol, during which the guest judge threatened to throw a Coke at DioGuardi for singing her hit "I Kissed a Girl."

"People actually think that I was upset by this -- like there was tension," DioGuardi, 39, said on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.
"I think that it's really good that she disagreed with me," continued DioGuardi. "I think that it's important that people have different opinions or else who wants to watch the show? It'd be boring."

The songwriter-producer, who has worked with Perry, 25, added, "It's Katy. I've known Katy for a long time."
Still, her family wasn't so convinced the sparring was in good fun.

"My Italian cousins back home wrote me texts like, 'Does she need a smack down?' I was like, 'No. You've got to chill out,'" DioGuardi joked.

We all know that Simon can be tactfully honest. But look out; here comes overly-blushed Katy Perry out to prove to the world that she can be a total b*t*h...while chewing up her favorite snack of course...a pen. I think Katy Perry was acting immature and low class. She says she would ditch her career to be a regular host on Idol. What an inspiring young women she is: making millions on a trashy song to ditch it all to be on a reality TV show ... isn't normally the other way around? She sure is a real "idol" for all young diva hopefuls. But regardless of my personal opinion of Kara, Katy proved herself again to be spiteful and trashy. She remarks before the show that she is just the honest-say-it-how-it-is kind of a person. People who have to "prove" themselves as self-proclaimed s#!t talkers with the "I don't give a s#!t" sort of attitude do nothing for themselves but make other people roll their eyes. Everyone knows that kind of person: "I'll say what I want, whenever I want, to who ever I want b/c I don't give a f*ck" It's annoying and childish. As if being that person really makes you intimidating. As if bashing little Kara makes you tough... Katy needs to have some respect for the more experienced judgers and be thankful for the invite. But nope, she will go on idol to prove to the world she's an overgrown child who can throw sodas in people's faces as soon as they dish back her own garbage. Apparently making fun on Katy's girl kissing song is a bitter pill to swollow for her. Anyone any more scared of Katy Perry now that she showed Kara what's up with her boobs hanging out all over the table? OOOoooo, I am. Watch out Simon, Katy just might take your spot as the a$$ of the show. But the only people laughing are the young teenagers of the world who think being a tool makes you tough. If she makes it on this show for good; I'm out. Along with every other self respected adult in this world.

katy perry is hilarious. Kara is ok butit is funny when people fight. Katy perry should stay on the show as a regualr judge becasue she has good humor.
I wish they would replace Kara with someone. I only watched that episode because Katy Perry was going to be on there. Kara tries to act too much like Paula. And its not working for her, she dosent drink enough.
