Her debut single, "Jam," has already hit radio airwaves, but Kim Kardashian's time in the recording studio almost didn't happen.
On Sunday's all-new episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Kardashian, 30, had to be talked into recording the tune by her pal, Ciara.
"I'm so shy," Kardashian admits when Ciara passes along the message that record producer The-Dream was anxious to work with her. "I'd be so nervous to get into a studio and sing in front of other people, especially The-Dream." (Watch a clip above)
Ciara wonders what Kardashian has to lose.
"It's about having a fun experience," the singer says. "At the end of the day, it's about you being able to express yourself in that world and play with it. Go in there and try it, see if you like it. Go for it! Why not?"
In retrospect, Kardashian realizes her worrying was all for naught.
"This was definitely something that was out of my comfort zone, but I'm so glad that I met with The-Dream and that we worked on this project together," she blogged after the single was released Wednesday. "It was really an amazing experience recording in the studio and and I can't wait for you all to see the video."
Kourtney and Kim Take New York airs Sunday at 10 p.m. (EST) on E!
