Things just got harder for cast of The Hard Times of R.J. Berger. MTV announced Friday that it will not be renewing the scripted series for a third season, despite record ratings for its second season premiere.
The comedy, which starred Paul Iacono as a well-endowed high school student, drew a series high of 3.1 million viewers in March following the Jersey Shore finale. Since then, ratings have dropped to less than 1 million viewers per episode.
"RIP R.J. Berger," Iacono, 22, tweeted Friday. "You were a great guy in more ways than one. On to bigger and better."
MTV recently renewed Teen Wolf, starring Tyler Posey and Colton Haynes, for a second season. The network's racy teen drama Skins was canceled in June.
