It took three years, but this underperforming sitcom returns with a -- surprise! -- truly funny episode. For starters, a coworker brazenly flirts with married lug Jeff (Patrick Warburton). It's a smart way to let Warburton work his subtle goofiness.

Meanwhile, Russell (David Spade) gives a task to his assistant, Timmy (Adhir Kalyan), that takes a hilariously loony turn. Now if only the writers could perk up Rules' bland young fiances (Oliver Hudson and Megyn Price) and banish the crassness. Hello? Date rape is not a punch line. (CBS, 8:30 P.M.)
