Emma Stone scores in this smash chick flick (based on the novel) about a Jackson, Mississippi, writer who pens a book in 1962 chronicling the lives of the African American nannies who work in her community. While Stone sparkles, it's Viola Davis who truly moves the audience as a housekeeper who loves the white toddler she cares for but who is tormented by the girl’s steely mother. The compelling, complicated story will compete for the best picture Oscar in February. (Walt Disney, $30)
