35 Best Disney+ Movies to Stream Right Now (September 2026): ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ and More

The Mandalorian Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his sidekick Grogu are in need of a new adventure. They find one when New Republic Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver) hires them to find notorious crime lord Janu Coin (Jonny Coyne). That’s a complicated process, which involves Mando fulfilling a favor to find Coin’s whereabouts. That favor involves Rotta the Hutt (voiced by Jeremy Allen White), Jabba’s surviving son who is reluctant to inherit his father’s criminal throne. Rotta doesn’t want to return to his home, and he’s willing to fight anyone who tries.

Shunned by some critics when it was released earlier in 2026, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu plays better at home due to its episodic structure and small-scale storytelling. The film is essentially The Mandalorian season 4, and if you judge it like that, it’s pretty good, with a compelling storyline and several effective battle scenes. It’s far from the epics George Lucas produced in a Hollywood industry far, far away, but it’s a heck of a lot better than The Acolyte or The Rise of Skywalker.

Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) doesn’t have the best relationship with his father, Nikolai (Russell Crowe). For starters, dear old dad left his son for dead during an African hunting trip, resulting in Sergei gaining enhanced senses, super strength and an almost mystical rapport with wildlife. Things go from bad to worse when Sergei rejects his father’s criminal lifestyle, resulting in Nikolai hiring thugs, the Foreigner (Christopher Abbott) and the Rhino (Alessandro Nivola), to take down his son for good.

Kraven the Hunter is the best of Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent universe, which includes such bombs as Madame Web and the three Venom films. That’s an admittedly low bar to pass, but Kraven does it through a blend of J.C. Chandor’s energetic direction and the surprisingly stacked cast, who have fun wielding thick Russian accents as much as they wield their many lethal weapons.

Festooned with leopard animal skins, leather vests, impossible abs and ‘70s-era porn star facial hair, Taylor-Johnson is clearly having the time of his life playing an anti-hero who eventually becomes one of Spidey’s most fearsome foes. It’s a shame he’ll never actually meet him, though – this movie bombed so badly that it effectively ended the Spidey villain franchise for good.

The boy band Connect 3 (the Jonas Brothers) have been going strong for almost two decades now, but they encounter a problem they’ve never had before – they don’t have an opening act! To find one on such short notice, they travel back to Camp Rock to see if any promising musical students could use a big platform to advance their careers. Will Connect 3 choose resident bad boy Fletch (Malachi Barton) or the talented but timid Sage (Liamani Segura)? And will former student Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) make an appearance?

If enough time passes, anything becomes better through the deceptive lens of nostalgia, and that’s the case with the first two Camp Rock movies. Those two films were typical Disney originals, complete with cheesy plots, some shaky acting and random musical numbers to make sure its pre-teen audience stays tuned. Camp Rock 3 is more of the same, with a new generation of students ready to fall in love and rock out. The older Jonas Brothers make this a must-see for fans of the original, while younger viewers will get a kick out of the new cast who are talented enough to appear in Camp Rock 4 in 2046.

Camp Rock 3 starts streaming on August 14.

After defeating the serial killer symbiote Carnage (Woody Harrelson) in the last film, you’d think Venom (Tom Hardy) would be cheered on as a hero. Instead, he’s being hunted for a crime he didn’t commit and has to stay one step ahead of the military before they take him down for good. On top of all that, he has to evade capture by Rex Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor), the leader of a shadowy organization called the Imperium. Rex wants the symbiote for his own nefarious purposes that could involve releasing the alien god Knull (Andy Serkis) from his interdimensional prison.

The third and final chapter in Sony’s Venom film series, Venom: The Last Dance, isn’t as campy as the first one and not as comic-book fun as the second. Instead, it’s just OK, combining a routine “wrong man” storyline with superhero hijinks that don’t make a whole lot of sense. The series’ best asset remains Hardy, who still has fun playing both Eddie Brock, Venom’s human host, and the deadly symbiote as a comedic Jekyll-and-Hyde duo. The actor’s love for the character is so infectious, he’ll make you ignore the film’s glaring flaws.

Venom: The Last Dance begins streaming on August 25.

Is there any stopping the seemingly eternal Descendants straight-to-TV movie franchise? If the recent release of Descendants: Wicked Wonderland is any indication, the answer is a resounding no. In the fifth entry of the popular series, fan-favorite characters Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe (Malia Baker) are back, and they’re bringing most of the fairy-tale gang with them. 

A direct sequel to the previous installment, The Rise of Red, Wicked Wonderland sees the two royal offspring back in Wonderland with a new adventure to undertake – and an old enemy to spar with. Maddox Hatter (Leonard Nam) wants to rule Wonderland, and he believes the best way to do it is by kidnapping Red’s mom, the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora). Maddox will soon find out that’s a big mistake, as Red, Chloe and new frenemy Cheesy the Cat (voiced by Awkwafina) race to save the Queen before she loses her head – literally! Also appearing in this installment are Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother, Paolo Montalban as King Charming and pop singer Brandy as Cinderella. 

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland starts streaming on July 17.

When Natalie (Oona Laurence) spots a feral boy in the woods, she’s at first scared – but then learns he’s just a scared orphan named Pete (Oakes Fegley) whose only friend is a large green dragon named Elliot (John Kassir). No one knows about Pete and Elliot, and they want to keep it that way, but when an unscrupulous land developer, Gavin (Karl Urban), learns of the dragon’s existence, he sees dollar signs. Natalie just wants to make sure Pete and his dragon are OK, but she may have doomed them to a life as a carnival sideshow – or worse.

The recent awful Moana remake with Dwayne Johnson just bombed in the theaters, but not all live-action reimaginings are bad. In fact, this 2016 remake surpasses the 1977 in every way, from its impressive visual effects to its heartwarming story about a lost boy and his pet dragon. Directed by The Green Knight auteur David Lowery, Pete’s Dragon is the rare kids movie that captures the wonder and awe of childhood without dumbing its story or characters down.

The Sully family is at their lowest point yet when Avatar: Fire and Ash begins. Still grieving the loss of their eldest son, Neteyam (Jake Flatters), Pandora power couple Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), decide to return their adopted son, the human Spider (Jack Champion), to his homeworld after his breathing mask runs out of power. Before they can say goodbye, they encounter a new threat: Varang (Oona Chaplin), the charismatic leader of a rival Na’vi sect that rejects Eywa in favor of violence. She’ll burn down all of Earth and Pandora if she has to get what she wants, and not even the Sullys can stand in her way.

The second sequel in James Cameron’s mega-successful Avatar series, Fire and Ash raises the stakes and spectacle, delivering dazzling visuals and gripping action sequences. While some story elements seem tired (please, James, don’t use Stephen Lang’s one-note villain Quaritch ever again), the film is mostly a blast and at its best when Chaplin’s fierce matriarch is on the screen. James, you can bring HER back for the third sequel.

Avatar: Fire and Ash will start streaming on June 24. 

Remember that song, “Life is a Highway”? Well, that’s literally going to be the case for all the cute animals living in Beaverton’s only glade. Jerry Generazzo (Jon Hamm), the town’s sleazy mayor, wants to destroy it to build a new highway, but college student Mabel (Piper Curda) isn’t going to let that happen. Through the magic of movie technology, she is going to transfer her mind into the robot body of a beaver so she can infiltrate Beaverton’s animal kingdom and convince them to stay and rebel against Jerry’s bulldozers. Yeah, that doesn’t sound so simple, and Mabel quickly finds herself in a world of trouble that no human or animal can save her from.

Hoppers hails from Pixar, so you know it’s good. (We’ll just ignore the studio’s only true bomb, Lightyear.) The premise is far-fetched but perfect for an animated film like this one, which allows Mabel-as-a-beaver to explore all the rich wildlife she could only admire from afar as a mere human. When you watch Hoppers, expect great visuals, a surprisingly thrilling story and an engaging vocal cast that includes Dave Franco, Kathy Najimy and Meryl Streep as an Insect Queen. Is there anything that woman can’t do?

Spider-Man: No Way Home had a lot of hype to live up to… and it did on its way to becoming the highest-grossing movie of 2021. In the aftermath of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) has been exposed as Spider-Man, and it’s ruined his life and the lives of his friends, Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon).

Peter’s attempt to get a magical solution from Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) inadvertently brings Spider-Man’s greatest enemies from across the multiverse to his world. Suddenly, Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and more are all looking for a version of Spider-Man they’ve never met.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will stream on Disney + on April 15.

Rio introduces audiences to Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), a blue Spix’s macaw who was smuggled from the Amazon and raised as a domestic pet. Blu loves his owner, Linda Gunderson (Leslie Mann), but she wants to help him keep his species alive by introducing him to Jewel (Anne Hathaway), the only known female of Blu’s species. 

When rare bird smugglers kidnap Blu and Jewel, they have to work together to get away. They also have to decide whether to follow Blu’s desire to reunite with Linda or Jewel’s dream of being free in the wild.

Zootopia 2 picks up shortly after the original movie, with Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) as partners in the Zootopia Police Department. Although Judy and Nick care a great deal for each other, their inability to mesh well may lead to them being split up. In the meantime, the pair investigates the presence of a snake in Zootopia.

The snake turns out to be Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan), a pit viper who wants to prove his family innocent of the crimes they were accused of years ago. When Gary’s quest threatens the secrets of one of Zootopia’s wealthiest residents, Milton Lynxle (David Strathairn), he sets the city against Gary, Judy and Nick with orders to eliminate all three of them.

Taking place after Daredevil: Born Again but before Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Punisher: One Last Kill follows Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) as he returns to New York City to settle some old scores. But Frank can’t escape his violent past, and his recurring visions of his dead daughter make him question the vigilante path he so willingly embraced. Does Frank have what it takes to execute one last kill? Or is he the next person on the chopping block?

The Punisher: One Last Kill reunites Bernthal with writer-director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who previously collaborated with the actor in the 2021 sports drama, King Richard. One Last Kill showcases a darker side of the MCU, with some pretty intense violence and surprisingly graphic kills. What makes it all work is Bernthal, who doesn’t glorify his vigilante anti-hero so much as make him a perpetually tortured man who is addicted to his own self-destruction. One Last Kill is strictly for adult comic book fans who enjoy a mature look at not-so-super heroes, particularly those who are splattered in blood that isn’t their own.

Disney doesn’t often venture into horror, much less horror flicks aimed at younger audiences. But Something Wicked This Way Comes carved out a unique place for itself in the Disney library. Ray Bradbury adapted his own novel for the film, which was directed by Jack Clayton.

The story takes place in a small town called Green Town, as a malevolent carnival arrives under the leadership of Mr. Dark (Jonathan Pryce). Somehow, Mr. Dark knows the hidden desires of every resident he meets, and he twists their needs to serve his interests. When two boys, Will Halloway (Vidal Peterson) and Jim Nightshade (Shawn Carson), discover Mr. Dark’s true nature, he uses his evil powers to hunt them down.

Something Wicked This Way Comes is streaming on Disney+.

The title character of Ella McCay is played by Emma Mackey, and she’s an unusual politician who has unexpectedly become governor following the resignation of her predecessor. Writer and director James L. Brooks doesn’t take it easy on Ella, as her first days in office are met by emotional turmoil, political blackmail and scandal.

Ella herself is a good person, but the same can’t be said for her husband, Ryan Newell (Jack Lowden). The aforementioned scandal primarily revolves around Ryan, but he’s happy to let Ella take the fall. Meanwhile, Ella’s estranged father, Eddie McCay (Woody Harrelson), has come back into her life, hoping for reconciliation. That’s going to open up some old wounds that aren’t easy to heal quickly — if at all.

Ella Mackey is streaming on Disney+.

The Muppets has just about everything it needed as a revival, from reverence to Jim Henson‘s iconic creations, an Oscar-winning song called “Man or Muppet” and two stars, Jason Segel and Amy Adams, who look genuinely thrilled to be in a Muppet movie.

Segel plays Gary, a lifelong Muppet fan who has an adopted brother, Walter (Peter Linz), who’s a Muppet living in a man’s world. Adams portrays Gary’s girlfriend, Mary, who joins the brothers on a trip to Los Angeles. The trio soon gets roped into a plan to help Kermit the Frog and the rest of the Muppets save their historic theater from the subtly named villain Tex Richman (Chris Cooper). Like almost all Muppets stories, it comes down to putting on a show.

The Muppets is streaming on Disney+.

Four decades ago, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) entered a digital world in Tron and encountered sentient programs that resembled humans. In Tron: Ares, some of those programs are coming to the real world. Julian Dillinger (Evan Peters) has found a way to bring his enforcer, Ares (Jared Leto), out of the digital realm for almost 30 minutes at a time.

Ares, however, is beginning to question his orders and his purpose. He was sent to capture Eve Kim (Greta Lee) and extract critical intel from her. But instead of obeying Dillinger, Ares turns against his master and attempts to find a way to stay in the real world.

2026 marks the 45th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark, one of the all-time great action-adventure films. George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg teamed up to create their own franchise, starring Harrison Ford as Henry “Indiana” Jones, a globetrotting archaeologist in the late 1930s.

When Indy is told that the Nazis are after the Ark of the Covenant, he accepts a mission to prevent that from happening. To find the Ark, Indy turns to his ex-lover, Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), for help. Marion may not have much love left for Indy, but they’ll need each other to survive.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is streaming on Disney+.

Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) and her mother, Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) had enough body-switching for a lifetime in Freaky Friday. They already learned their life lesson, and they don’t want another one. Freakier Friday puts them through the ordeal again, except this time, Anna’s daughter, Harper (Julia Butters), is in Tess’ body.

That leaves Anna’s soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily Reyes (Sophia Hammons), in Anna’s body and vice versa. Lily and Harper don’t really like each other, but they see the body swap as the perfect chance to break up their parents before the wedding can happen. This time, they’re the ones who need the lesson.

Freakier Friday is streaming on Disney+.

Everyone’s an animal in Zootopia. Or more accurately, they’re anthropomorphized animals who have a lot of human traits. Zootopia is also the name of the big city, where a small-town rabbit, Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), dreams of being a police officer.

On her first day on the job, Judy is conned by Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a fox who’s always looking for his angle. When Judy nabs an investigation into the city’s missing predators, she drags Nick along with her to help solve the case. What they find is a conspiracy that may shake the foundations of the city and everything they believe in.

Zootopia is streaming on Disney+. A 2025 sequel, Zootopia 2, is also streaming on Disney+.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps stands alone from the rest of the MCU in a world where Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) are the only heroes Earth needed to usher in a golden age during the ’60s.

Unfortunately for the FF, their semi-utopia is shattered by the arrival of Silver Surfer (Julia Garner), the herald of Galactus (Ralph Ineson), the devourer of worlds. Only one thing can spare Earth the fate of so many other worlds, but the price is too high for the Fantastic Four.

ESPN is lending out its Shohei Ohtani documentary, Shohei Ohtani: Beyond the Dream, in light of his back-to-back World Series wins with the Los Angeles Dodgers. When this film was made, Ohtani was still playing for the Los Angeles Angels, and his fandom in America hadn’t hit its fever pitch.

Ohtani’s claim to fame, besides making $70 million a year, is that he’s a rare two-way baseball player who can pitch at an elite level and hit for power. This film chronicles his journey to Major League Baseball and the beginning of his career in the Japanese baseball scene. If his story reminds you of a Disney movie, that’s kind of the point, isn’t it?

Shohei Ohtani: Beyond the Dream is streaming on Disney+.

Thunderbolts* is an odd film in that it’s essentially Black Widow sequel starring minor characters from other Marvel movies and Disney+ shows. It’s also one of the MCU’s best stories in a long time simply because the characters get to be human and flawed.

Florence Pugh reprises her role as Yelena Belova, who is among the black ops operatives working for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). When the latter tries to have them killed, Yelena teams up with John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). But the real threat is Bob (Lewis Pullman), the lone survivor of Val’s superhuman experiments. Bob has power beyond compare, and an inner void that may swallow Manhattan whole.

Thunderbolts is streaming on Disney+.

Pixar’s latest film, Elio, follows an 11-year-old boy, Elio Solís (Yonas Kibreab), who has out of this world dreams of meeting an alien. Elio’s aunt, Olga Solís (Zoe Saldaña) had to put her own dreams of being an astronaut on hold to raise Elio. However, Olga’s work at NASA leads Elio to inadvertently make first contact with aliens.

The aliens mistake Elio fro an Earth ambassador and bring him to the Communiverse, where sentient beings from all over the universe converge. Although Elio makes a few new friends, including Glordon (Remy Edgerly), he soon finds himself way over his head in an interstellar crisis.

Elio is streaming on Disney+.

Lilo & Stitch made a few changes to the animated movie’s story when it made the leap to live-action, but audiences still flocked to it. Chris Sanders reprises his role as Stitch, an alien experiment who is deemed too dangerous to live by the United Galactic Federation. To escape with his life, Stitch travels to Earth and pretends to be a dog when he’s adopted by a six-year-old girl named Lilo Pelekai (Maia Kealoha).

Lilo’s older sister and guardian, Nani Pelekai (Sydney Elizebeth Agudong), is overwhelmed by trying to keep her family together, especially in the face of the chaos that Stitch brings into their lives. Meanwhile, Stitch’s creator, Dr. Jumba Jookiba (Zach Galifianakis) and United Galactic Federation Agent Wendell Pleakley (Billy Magnussen) arrive on Earth to locate Stitch. But the former may have a hidden agenda.

Tron: Legacy picks up decades after the ground-breaking original film with Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) in the dark about the fate of his father, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), the creator of the Grid. Acting on a tip from Kevin’s old friend, Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner), Sam visits Kevin’s old laboratory and finds himself transported to the Grid just as his father was years before.

Upon his arrival, Sam learns that a digital duplicate of his father, CLU (Bridges), rules the Grid as a tyrant with designs on invading the real world. Kevin’s apprentice, Quorra (Olivia Wilde), helps Sam escape, but the reunion between father and son may have to take a backseat to saving the Grid and Earth from CLU.

Tron: Legacy is streaming on Disney+.

Meryl Streep isn’t literally the devil in The Devil Wears Prada, but she might as well be. Streep plays Miranda Priestly, the incredibly ruthless editor for Runway, one of the most prestigious fashion magazines in the industry.

Andrea “Andy” Sachs (Anne Hathaway) gets quite an education while serving as Miranda’s new assistant. Miranda sees that Andy is useful, but she also thoughtlessly discards anyone in her inner circle who isn’t living up to her standards. She’s also a very bad influence on Andy, who may be difficult to shake.

The Devil Wears Prada is streaming on Disney+.

The success of the live-action Lilo & Stitch illustrates just how beloved the original Disney animated film has become in the last two decades. Stitch (Chris Sanders) is an alien experiment marked for deletion who escapes to Earth, where he poses as the strange-looking dog of a young girl named Lilo Pelekai (Daveigh Chase).

Stitch unleashes his personal brand of chaos on Lilo and her guardian/sister, Nani (Tia Carrere), which makes it more difficult for the former to hold her family together. As the Galactic Federation closes in on Stitch, his friendship with Lilo has a transformative effect that makes him worth saving.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is the new Captain America. And he’s got his hands full in his first movie in his new role, Captain America: Brave New World.

Sam has a new partner, Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), who has taken on Sam’s old Falcon identity. But this duo will be tested as the world edges towards war while President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford) acts increasingly erratically. The Hulk’s former ally, Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), is pulling all of these strings, and he may have the last laugh as well.

Captain America: Brave New World is streaming on Disney+.

Stop trying to keep track of all of the Spider-Men and Spider-Women in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — it’s too easy to lose count. The most important ones are Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), two teenage superheroes who are kinda in love with each other. Unfortunately, their potential romance just isn’t in the cards because they live in separate universes in the multiverse.

Gwen finds her escape from the heartbreak and tragedy of her world by joining the Spider-Society, a group of spider-heroes from across the multiverse. When Miles finds out, he’s more than a little hurt that he wasn’t also asked to join. But once Miles meets the group’s founder, Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac), he may not like what he learns about the society. And his relationship with Gwen will never be the same.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is streaming on Disney+.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a revolutionary film for the way it seamlessly blended animation and live-action in a way that had never been done before. This may also be the only time you’ll ever see Disney’s classic characters interact with Warner Bros.’ Looney Tunes icons, as well as some genuinely shocking guest stars from the early days of cartoons.

None of that would matter without the terrific performance of Bob Hoskins as burned-out detective Eddie Valiant. Eddie used to be the Toons’ go-to private investigator before his partner and brother were murdered. Roger Rabbit (Charles Fleischer) needs a little of that Valiant and Valiant magic after he’s falsely accused of murder. Because if Judge Doom (Christopher Lloyd) finds Roger first, he’ll demonstrate that even a Toon can be killed.

Disney’s live-action films haven’t always been as thrilling as the studio’s animated fare, but Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is something special. This adaptation of a Disney theme park ride is wildly entertaining, thanks in large part to Johnny Depp‘s off-the-wall performance as Captain Jack Sparrow and just the right amount of menace from Geoffrey Rush as Jack’s nemesis, Captain Barbossa.

Barbossa and the crew of Jack’s former ship, the Black Pearl, have been cursed to live as undead things until they can return the final piece of a stolen treasure. To reclaim their humanity, the crew kidnaps Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) in the mistaken belief that she’s the daughter of one of their old shipmates. To save Elizabeth, a lowly blacksmith named Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) allies with Jack, who almost certainly can’t be trusted.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is streaming on Disney+.

There are a lot of Disney animated films that could be classified as “must-watch,” both in the 2D era and among the modern 3D flicks. But Beauty and the Beast was in a class all by itself, and one of the rare animated films to ever earn a nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars. The music by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman is amazing, and the animation is still dazzling over three decades later.

None of that would matter without the strong performances of Paige O’Hara as Belle and Robby Benson as the Beast. She has to learn how to see the man beneath his monstrous appearance, while he has to become worthy of her love or else he’ll remain trapped in the body of a beast forever. Their love is also complicated by one of Disney’s most memorable villains, Gaston (Richard White), who manages to be both comical and menacing. This is a masterpiece from start to finish, and few films have ever come close to topping it.

Pixar has largely surpassed Disney’s animated films in the 21st century with incredible animation paired with emotionally resonant storytelling. The studio has also taken some wild swings, including WALL-E, a sci-fi film about a sentient trash compactor robot (Ben Burtt) who might be the last being on Earth in the 29th century. Long stretches of WALL-E take place without dialogue, but the little guy is so expressive that there’s never any doubt about what he’s feeling.

WALL-E’s long solitude is broken when a female robot named EVE (Elissa Knight) arrives on Earth looking for any sign that the planet can be reclaimed by the humans who left it behind centuries earlier. What she finds will lead WALL-E and EVE on an adventure across the stars that may determine the future of humanity. It’s also an unexpectedly warm love story between two robots who have thoughts and feelings of their own.

At the time of its release, Logan was meant to be Hugh Jackman‘s swan song as Wolverine and the end of an era for the original X-Men movies. In a dark future, mutants are all but extinct, and even Logan (Jackman) is facing his mortality as his healing powers fade. Most of the X-Men are gone, and only Logan remains to care for his seriously ill mentor, Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart).

Their quiet retirement is shattered when Logan meets Laura (Dafne Keen), a young girl who may be his biological daughter. As Logan begrudgingly protects Laura from the killers on her trail, he discovers what really happened to the mutants and if he still has something worth fighting for.

Modern Star Wars films and shows have been inconsistent both in quality and how they’ve been received by the public, but Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is almost universally loved by new and old fans alike. Director Gareth Edwards and screenwriters Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy capture the look and feel of the original Star Wars in a story with elevated stakes. None of the main characters are Jedi, and they’re closer to anti-heroes than any previous leads.

A young thief named Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is forcibly recruited into the rebellion because her father, Galen (Mads Mikkelsen), is one of the key figures behind the Empire’s super weapon, the Death Star. Jyn, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and a handful of other characters undertake a suicide mission to stop the Death Star before it can be used to crush the rebellion. And in this war story, not everyone gets to come home alive.
