Director Oliver Stone examines the economic meltdown in this smart sequel. Shia LaBeouf plays Jake, a trader engaged to Winnie (Carey Mulligan), the daugther of disgraced financier Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). While the elder actor is strong, Mulligan feels underused, and LaBeouf comes off like a light-weight. And since his big decision -- sell his soul to the capitalist devil or follow his heart -- is the film's core, that's a deficit. (20th Century Fox, $30)
