Taylor Swift is the queen of 4th of July, so much so that she’s incorporated the holiday into several of her hit songs.

“Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year,” Swift wrote via her blog in 2013, noting she invited her touring crew to join her at her Rhode Island beach house for the occasion. “You’ve seen us all in our show costumes on the Red Tour … here’s what we all look like in RED, white and blue.”

According to Swift, she will “use any holiday as an excuse for face paint.”

Cut to 2023, when Swift invited fellow single pals like Selena Gomez and Este Haim to mark Independence Day.

“Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies 😎,” she wrote via Instagram on July 7, 2023. “See you tonight Kansas Cityyy.”

Unbeknownst to Swift, her future husband, Travis Kelce, would see that very Eras Tour show and feel inspired to ask her out.

“How deranged is that post? I think back on that I’m like, ‘There’s no way,’” Swift recalled on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mashup Show in October 2025. “If we break this down, I’m in this picture with a bunch of girls — not just me and Selena — [but] a few of the other girls found their person right after that.”

Swift and Kelce started dating in summer 2023, getting engaged two years later in August 2025. The couple will usher in 4th of July weekend 2026 with a star-studded wedding at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden arena.

Before Swift and Kelce walk down the aisle, scroll below to revisit the pop star’s songs that mention either the 4th of July or fireworks:

‘End Game’

“I’ve made mistakes, and made some choices that’s hard to deny / After the storm, something was born on the Fourth of July / I’ve passed days without fun, this endgame is the one / With four words on the tip of my tongue I’ll never say.”

Swift cowrote the Reputation song with BFF Ed Sheeran, who penned his verse about falling in love with now-wife Cherry Seaborn. (Their love story famously began on Independence Day, and the couple even attended Swift’s nuptials.)

‘Dear John’

“But I took your matches before fire could catch me / So don’t look now / I’m shining like fireworks over your sad empty town.”

“Dear John,” which is featured on Swift’s album Speak Now, is heavily speculated to be inspired by the singer’s ex John Mayer. (Swift has never publicly addressed the muse for the track.)

‘Sparks Fly’

“It’s just wrong enough to make it feel right / And lead me up the staircase / Won’t you whisper soft and slow / I’m captivated by you, baby / Like a fireworks show.”

Another Speak Now tune references fireworks.

Bonus: ‘Last Kiss’

“I do recall now, the smell of the rain / Fresh on the pavement, I ran off the plane / That July 9th, the beat of your heart / It jumps through your shirt, I can still feel your arms.”

While not technically about the 4th of July, Swift mentioned another date just five days later. Swift also performed “Last Kiss” at the first Eras Tour show Kelce attended.
