Video: See Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson Kick Butt in The Avengers Trailer

The wait is finally over! Marvel Studios unveiled the first trailer from The Avengers on Tuesday, giving fans an advanced look at the highly-anticipated spring blockbuster.

The film assembles a group of beloved superheroes including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

It also introduces a handful of new characters to the film franchise, including Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).

Director Joss Whedon praised the all-star cast during Comic-Con in July, telling fans: "These actors have a great time playing against each other. They are, as a troupe, actually a much better team than the Avengers are."

The Avengers arrives in theaters May 4, 2012.
