RIP, Paul Walker. Vin Diesel shared an emotionally loaded Fast & Furious 8 poster on Facebook on Tuesday, April 19.
“New Roads Ahead,” the poster reads, above a photo of Diesel looking somber. “Furious 8. April 14. In Theaters and IMAX.” (It’s unclear whether the movie’s title has changed yet again — it was previously known as Fast 8.)
The tagline picks up from where the franchise left off and comes following the November 2013 death of star Paul Walker. Furious 7’s tagline was “One last ride” and was Walker’s final film. The actor died in a fiery car crash during a production break on Furious 7. His brothers, Cody and Caleb, stepped in as his double for the film’s final scenes.
Diesel confirmed plans for the next installment during CinemaCon on April 23.
"We're gonna make the best movie you've ever seen," the 47-year-old told the audience.
Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood are set to join the franchise, while Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson are signed on to reprise their roles.
The F. Gary Gray–directed movie is scheduled to be released on April 14, 2017.
