Monday – October 26, 2009 – 9:56am

Legendary musical theater composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, according to the 61-year-old's spokesperson.

Webber -- who has composed 13 musicals and won seven Tony Awards -- began treatment this weekend in his native London for early stages of the disease.

"Andrew is now undergoing treatment and expects to be fully back at work before the end of the year," the spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday.

The revered music man recently announced plans for a follow-up to his smash Broadway play Phantom of the Opera, now in its 21st year. The sequel, Love Never Dies, is scheduled to open in London next spring and on Broadway later next year.
