BlackBerry-hurling supermodel, Naomi Campbell failed to show up for her court date on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports. She is facing charges of second-degree assault for attacking her housekeeper, and if convicted, could receive up to seven years in prison.
The judge threatened to arrest the catwalker if she didn't make it for her next court date.
New York prosecutors say Campbell, 36, threw a cell phone at her housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, hitting her on the back of the head, causing a wound that required four stitches to close.
"She is absolutely obligated to appear at the next court date or the law will go into effect. A bench warrant will be issued," a visibly annoyed Judge James Gibbons of the Manhattan Criminal Court told defense attorney David Breitbart.
"The press is all over this girl,” Breitbart protested. “There are over 100 cameramen outside this courthouse.”
"They have a right to be here,” said Judge Gibbons.
Outside the court, Breitbart told the waiting throng of media, "She has a right to privacy."
The case has been adjourned to November 15.
Two other former employees have filed suit against Campbell this year claiming they were assaulted by the model.
