Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has officially traded in the fist-pumping for diaper changing. The reality star took to Instagram on Wednesday, April 18, to rave over becoming a first-time parent. The Jersey Shore star and girlfriend Jen Harley welcomed their first child, a daughter, on April 3.
“So excited to be a #Father. Words can’t describe the feeling,” Ortiz-Magro, 32, captioned an Instagram photo of blocks spelling out the name. “You live your life not ever really knowing the meaning of true love until you have a child. True unconditional love. You love your significant other, you love your family. I have to say I understand when everyone said you’ll understand ‘when you have a child of your own or when you become a parent.’ I know I have still tons to learn but I’m excited for this new journey & chapter in my life with my beautiful girlfriend & my daughter.”
Us Weekly exclusively announced the baby name on Tuesday, April 15, and the reality star explained where the idea came from.
“When she found out she was pregnant, we looked at each other and we’re like, ‘Guess we’re naming the baby Ariana if it’s a girl,’” he told Us. “Next thing you know, we find out the gender and we’re like, ‘Guess so!’”
He also shared that since the baby arrived, his entire mindset has changed. “Things that were important to you just aren’t important anymore. Your mindset is taking care of your family and being a good role model and basically just, you never want to see anything happen to them,” he told Us. “She gets the hiccups and I go crazy because it’s out of my hands. She’ll get them for 5-10 minutes, I’m like ‘Oh my gosh! I just want to stop them!’ So I try to scare her, I’m like ‘Boo!’ and Jen’s like, ‘Uh, that doesn’t work on babies.’ I’m like ‘Oh, that makes sense.’”
During the premiere of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Ortiz-Magro his costars were shocked when he revealed he was expecting. He and Harley were first spotted together in July 2017.
