Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear played one of America’s most prominent political couples in the 2011 ReelzChannel miniseries The Kennedys, and now Minka Kelly and James Marsden are getting their chance to portray former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and 35th President of the United States John F. Kennedy in 2013’s The Butler.
Kelly, 32, and Marsden, 38, were photographed on set for the first time dressed as the American icons in New Orleans August 14. Wearing a pillbox hat and a shift dress, Kelly looked nearly identical to the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, while Marsden looked dapper in a suit.
The Butler tells the true story of a White House employee named Eugene Allen (played by Forest Whitaker, 51) who served eight U.S. Presidents from 1952 to 1986.
Oprah Winfrey, 58, was cast in the role of Eugene’s wife. The TV titan “was looking for something [to act in], and we’re friendly, and we were just trying to figure out the right thing,” director Lee Daniels recently told USA Today.
The Butler also stars Alan Rickman, 66, as Ronald Reagan, and Jane Fonda, 74, as his wife, Nancy Reagan; John Cusack, 46, as Richard Nixon; Robin Williams, 61, as Dwight Eisenhower, and Melissa Leo, 51, as his wife, Mamie Eisenhower; Liev Schreiber, 44, as Lyndon B. Johnson; and Nelsan Ellis, 33, as Martin Luther King, Jr.
Other actors slated to appear in The Butler include Alex Pettyfer, 22, Lenny Kravitz, 48, Cuba Gooding Jr., 44, Terrence Howard, 43, Jesse Williams, 31, Yaya DaCosta, 29, and Vanessa Redgrave, 75.
