It’s been more than 30 years since the late Princess Diana opened the Oxford & District Sports and Recreation Association for the Disabled in England, but life came full circle when her son Prince Harry paid a visit to the center on Tuesday, May 14.
Just eight days after the former military pilot, 34, and his wife, Duchess Meghan, welcomed their son, Archie, Harry made a solo trip to OXSRAD where he looked just like his mom as he engaged with members of the facility. (Diana died in August 1997 at age 38 following a tragic car accident.)
During his trip, Harry chatted with a woman named Julia Porter-Smith, whose husband, Alan Porter-Smith, founded the center and previously met the Princess of Wales. “He’s so human, just like his mum,” Julia said of the royal, according to Oxford Mail reporter Erin Lyons.
While touring the facility, the Duke of Sussex joined a fine motor skills session and was greeted by a woman who excitedly shared with him that she had a friend also named Harry. Earlier on Tuesday, Harry also stepped out to support another important place — the Oxford Children’s Hospital, where he was gifted a teddy bear for his newborn son.
Harry recently reflected on Diana during a trip to the Netherlands on Thursday, May 9, just four days after the former Suits star, 37, gave birth to Archie, as he spoke with a veteran named Dennis van der Stroon, who shared a story with Harry regarding his own mother’s death, and how his wife is currently pregnant.
“I told Harry about my mother and we talked about our shared experience of missing a mum. He said missing a mother is like missing some kind of security, how you need that as a son and it falls away when you lose your mother,” van der Stroon told Hello! magazine. “He said he meets a lot of people in his work who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother or relatives and when he hears their story, as he heard my story, he said he doesn’t feel so alone.”
Harry and Meghan also honored Diana on Mother’s Day when the California native posted the newest picture of her and Archie standing in front of a wall of forget-me-not flowers, which were Diana’s favorite.
