Ashlee Simpson's love for fashion started early — and in an unexpected way! "In kindergarten I loved hammer pants!" the singer, who assists with the tween line from Jessica Simpson's fashion collection, tells Us Weekly. "Fashion really starts in those [younger] years, and I started with hammer pants."
Working with Jessica and their mom, Tina Simpson, on the Jessica Simpson collection, Ashlee is responsible for assessing the fashion trends hot among the pre-teen set, and tells Us that she uses her son Bronx as a sounding board. Although her son with ex Pete Wentz is only 4, he's quite opinionated when it comes to fashion. "He always lets us know exactly what he likes and doesn't like — even with what I wear," explains mom, 28, who says her boy largely follows a "rock 'n roll rebel" aesthetic. Agrees Tina: "Bronx is the biggest fashionista! He loves the girl leggings — he wears them all the time!"
As their fall collection hits stores, Ashlee — who served as the face of the brand while Jessica, 33, prepped for the June 2013 birth of son Ace Knute — says she couldn't be prouder of the new garments her family designed. "I get to work with my mamma and sister and we really have fun together. It's amazing," Ashlee gushed.
Debuting her baby boy in the September 9 issue of Us Weekly, Jessica is having no trouble juggling her new family of four with fiance Eric Johnson, according to her sister. "She's really amazing. She's so good [as a mom] and Ace is such a doll," Ashlee told Us. "We've all fallen in love with him and Jess is really overwhelmed with happiness."
