Clean living looks good on Zac Efron. The Parkland actor, 25, appeared slim and healthy in Peru on Wednesday, Sept. 11, six days before news broke that he completed a brief stint in rehab five months ago, and five days after he resurfaced at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
Pictures of the handsome star show him posing with fans at his hotel. He looks happy and laid-back in a chambray button-down and jeans, his dark brown hair slightly tousled.
Fans spotted the High School Musical alum in the Machu Pichu region of the country, where he reportedly spent a week exploring the area's famous ruins with his father. The two headed there for some sightseeing and soul-searching after Efron's work trip to TIFF, where he promoted Parkland on Sept. 6.
"He was so handsome, even more in person than on television," one admirer in Peru told Splash News. "He was obviously tired, but he was very sweet with us."
As previously reported, Efron secretly sought treatment for problems with cocaine and alcohol earlier this year. Since leaving rehab, he's been on his best behavior and is "doing really great professionally," a pal told Us Weekly.
"He realized he needed outside help," the friend said. "He reached out for it and is doing great now…He's in a good place. He's clean and he's happy."
Added another pal of the Neighbors star: "He just needed to find himself."
