Vause’s victorious comeback! Orange Is the New Black fans can rest easy about the fate of inmate Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) after binge watching the show’s second season. On Tuesday, June 10, Prepon confirmed to Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie that she will be appearing in every episode of the Netflix smash’s third season.
“Yes, definitely, and I’m really excited because I missed everybody so much during season 2,” the That ‘70s Show star gushed. “But yeah, we started shooting yesterday, and it’s awesome so I can’t wait to get back to work.”
[WARNING: Minor season 2 spoilers ahead!]
Piper Chapman’s ex-girlfriend was not featured heavily in the show’s sophomore season after being released from jail in the premiere episode. Alex made several brief appearances toward the end of the season, and in the show’s finale, Piper ensured that her former flame would be thrown back behind bars soon.
Prepon made headlines back in August 2013 when she didn’t sign on to be a series regular for OITNB’s second season, causing devoted fans of Alex and Piper’s relationship to protest.
“Basically, I wasn’t a series regular and wasn’t under contract, and then had a scheduling conflict that came up during season 2,” Prepon told The Daily Beast in April 2014. “But I love the show and I love my character, and I told [show creator] Jenji [Kohan] from the get-go, ‘I want to be in as many as I can.’ So we did, and I’ll be in four episodes for season 2. And then if we get a season 3, I’ll be in every episode. I totally missed the show.”
Orange Is the New Black has been renewed for season 3, which began filming on June 9.
