Great news for Frozen fans who are having a hard time letting it go! Disney has just released a first look at the new animated short Frozen Fever, which picks up where the original full-length feature left off back in 2013, when Princess Anna, Queen Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven first melted all of our hearts.
The short featurette, posted to YouTube on Tuesday, Feb. 3, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the film’s highly anticipated sequel, which will be shown in theaters before the upcoming live-action Cinderella this March.
“Frozen Fever takes place just a few months after we’ve last seen the gang,” filmmaker Chris Buck explains in the clip. Adds Jennifer Lee, who wrote and co-directed the first movie: “It’s actually Anna’s birthday, and Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf are about to throw her a giant party.”
There’s just one problem — Elsa (Idina Menzel) has a cold! “Elsa doesn’t get a cold in the usual way,” Lee told USA Today, which debuted the first photos from Frozen Fever on Feb. 2. “She’s special. Surprising things occur that wreak a little havoc.”
Like worldwide phenom Frozen, the new short takes place in the kingdom of Arendelle. And according to USA Today, it features a new song from Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who co-wrote the inescapably popular Oscar-winning tune “Let It Go.”
“If history is any indicator,” Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, told USA Today, “kids will go nuts.”
