Back at it, backstage! Allison Williams shared her first Instagram update on Wednesday, Feb. 18, the first since her father, NBC News anchor Brian Williams, apologized for his “bungled” account of a 2003 helicopter ride in Iraq.
In the post, Williams posed backstage at the Michael Kors show at New York Fashion Week with fellow actress Kate Hudson. “Back at it,” the Girls star, 26, captioned the pic. “Thank you all for the love and support. Hi from backstage at @MichaelKors with this beauty, @KateHudson. #ThanksMK.”
Hudson, 35, also shared a group shot with the beaming Peter Pan Live actress as they were flanked by several pals. For the occasion, Williams dressed in a floral printed black and marigold crop top and matching skirt.
Wednesday’s Michael Kors show also marked Williams’ first public appearance since her dad was suspended last Tuesday, Feb. 10, from the NBC Nightly News desk for six months without pay. In his absence, Lester Holt has taken over the anchor chair as executives at the network deliberate over the veteran newscaster’s fate.
NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke addressed the ongoing scandal in an internal memo released by NBC News president Deborah Turness about Brian’s suspension.
“This has been a painful period for all concerned and we appreciate your patience while we gathered the available facts,” Burke noted to staff. “By his actions, Brian has jeopardized the trust millions of Americans place in NBC News. His actions are inexcusable and this suspension is severe and appropriate.”
Regardless, the network heads added in the memo that Williams is deserving of a second chance. “Brian’s life’s work is delivering the news,” Burke noted. “We are rooting for him.”
