Singing for Orlando. Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda gave their late-night TV debut performance of “Love Make the World Go Round” during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, July 12 — and it was one to remember.
Teaming up with house band the Roots, Lopez wore a 20-foot long, flowing cape by Michael Cinco emblazoned with what looked like the colorful panes of glass from a church window.
The mom of two began the performance solo, giving a haunting rendition of the single, which is currently steaming up the charts. When Miranda joined in, Lopez ditched the shawl and the performance became more upbeat, although no less atmospheric.
As previously reported, the pair’s song is a tribute to the victims of the Orlando nightclub massacre, and sales of the single raise funds for the Hispanic Federation’s Proyecto Somos Orlando initiative, which pledges to raise money for culturally competent and bilingual mental health services.
Miranda teased the performance with a tweet earlier in the evening: “J.Lo. The Roots. Yours truly. Tonight. #LMTWGR @FallonTonight,” he wrote, sharing a picture of himself and his Grammy-winning costar on the Tonight Show stage.

The talented duo gave the first performance of their charity single on Monday, July 11 during Today, when Lopez wore a fancy white lace bra — and little else!
