Happily (and fashionably) ever after! Beloved celebrity designer Jason Wu got married to his longtime partner, Gustavo Rangel, in a fun and elaborate ceremony in Tulum, Mexico, on Friday, April 8.
The Taiwanese-Canadian designer, 33, and his brand’s chief financial officer Rangel said “I do” before a bevy of well-groomed, well-dressed guests at the tropical fete.
Fashion’s elite, including Diane Kruger and popular fashion blogger Bryanboy, were in attendance and shared some fun snaps from the ceremony and reception.
“Congratulations … I love you so much guys @jasonwu @tavonyc #yesImabusingBoomerangtodaybutmyhappinessformyfriendsistoomuchtositstill,” Kruger, 39, captioned a cute photo of herself sandwiched between the pair.
In another fun clip, she captured the couple kissing next to their white-and-navy wedding cake.
“A l’amour toujours !!!” she captioned the video.
According to Brides.com, the reception included piñatas, tacos, and tequila for guests to enjoy.
In a February 2012 issue of Out, Wu explained why their relationship works on so many levels.
“Working and living with someone — that’s intense,” he said. “We have to leave the baggage behind and have a personal life. We have that balance. We walk home, and once we go from the West to the East, there’s no more work talk. At Fifth Avenue, it ends.”
“It’s good to have someone that is real and honest,” he continued. “Sometimes you don’t see who you are after a long time, especially if you’re busy and working toward something. It’s nice to have someone who’s a mirror. You may not always like what you see, but it’s true.”
