Even the national bird doesn’t want Donald Trump. Time magazine released its Person of the Year cover on Wednesday, Dec. 9, and the GOP presidential hopeful did not make the cut. He did, however, make his way into a hilarious video clip the magazine shared on Twitter.
“Watch Donald Trump dodge a bald eagle,” the official account for the magazine wrote alongside a GIF of Trump, 69, jerking his hand and pushing himself away from the bird as it flapped its wings.
The moment was captured as photographers were preparing to shoot Trump for the issue after the controversial contender made the short list. The tweet comes after Trump called out the iconic magazine for not selecting him for the annual accolade.
“I told you @TIME Magazine would never pick me as person of the year despite being the big favorite They picked person who is ruining Germany,” Trump tweeted, referencing this year’s selection — German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Trump’s been stirring up more controversy than usual lately after he called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims” entering the country. His proposal caused members of his own party to speak out against him, and the White House press secretary, Josh Earnest, called his comments “disqualifying.”
