Emily Longeretta

Summary

Senior Entertainment Editor Emily Longeretta spends most of her time watching TV with her three cats and enjoying made-for-TV Christmas movies all year ‘round. While some shows she watches because of her job – she manages all TV content on both the website and in the magazine – most she watches because she’s obsessed. She knows the relationships of the One Chicago universe like they’re her family, could take you on a deep dive of The Challenge cast member’s pasts and knows nearly every word to every episode of Friends and Dawson’s Creek (Team Pacey forever!). On Friday nights, while most of her friends are partying, she’s making popcorn and getting cozy in front of the TV for a new episode of Blue Bloods.

Work or writing background leading to expertise

A few months after arriving at Us Weekly, Emily launched the weekly “Watch With Us” podcast, where she delivers TV news and exclusive interviews both in-studio and on location. Notable guests include Taylor Kitsh, Penn Badgley, Tig Notaro and Skeet Ulrich, who was one of her first crushes ever when he played the killer in Scream. She’s also still waiting for Sylvester Stallone to agree to join the podcast – and she’ll never stop waiting.

Emily also loves to travel for work and moderate panels at ATX TV Festival, San Diego Comic Con and more. She feels lucky that she’s been able to visit the sets of Paradise Hotel (in Mexico!), Younger, The Following, Scream and, of course, Chicago Fire, P.D. and Med.

Education

Emily majored in journalism at SUNY Oswego where she also worked for the alumni newspaper; while there, she conducted her first celebrity interview ever with Al Roker, an Oz alum! She even reached out cold to his team to book it!

Work history

Before joining Us Weekly in October 2017, Emily worked at HollywoodLife for nearly five years.
