Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford (born Cynthia Ann Crawford) is a model, actress and entrepreneur. Born in DeKalb, Illinois, she was first discovered in high school. She began securing modeling gigs as a teenager and went on to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University on an academic scholarship. Crawford left college after one semester to pursue modeling full time.

Crawford’s career took off in the ’80s as she became a fixture on magazine covers, fashion runways and major advertising campaigns. She emerged as one of the era’s most recognizable supermodels, appearing in editorials for British Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure and Cosmopolitan. She also appeared in various music videos for artists such as Jon Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and George Michael.

In addition to her modeling success, Crawford expanded into television, film and business ventures. She hosted MTV’s House of Style from 1989 to 1997 and has appeared in films including Fair Game (1995), 54 (1998) and We Married Margo (2000). Over the course of her career, she has walked runways for brands including Chanel, Versace and Balmain.

Crawford was married to Richard Gere from 1991 to 1995. She married businessman and former model Rande Gerber in 1998. The couple share two children, Presley Gerber (born in 1999) and Kaia Gerber (born in 2001), both of whom followed their parents into modeling.
