
Alan Hamel
Alan Hamel is a Canadian entertainer, producer and television host best known for his work on children’s programming and daytime talk shows. Born in Toronto, Canada, Hamel studied in the Radio and Television Arts program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly the Ryerson Institute of Technology) in 1954, though he did not graduate.
Hamel’s early career began in Canadian television as cohost of the children’s series Razzle Dazzle on CBC. He later crossed into U.S. syndication by hosting game shows including Wedding Party and Anniversary Game. His ascent continued in Canada where he hosted his own daytime talk show, The Alan Hamel Show, on CTV. The show ran from 1976 to 1980.
After hosting The Alan Hamel Show, he eventually moved behind the camera as a producer, working on projects involving his wife, actress Suzanne Somers.
Hamel was first wed to Marilyn Hamel, with whom he shares son Stephen and daughter Leslie. He later met Somers on the set of Anniversary Game, and the couple tied the knot in 1977. Their marriage endured until her death in 2023. In June 2025, he began dating Joanna Cassidy.
