About

Suzanne Somers is best remembered for playing Chrissy Snow on the sitcom Three’s Company from 1977 to 1981. The actress portrayed the endearing ditsy roommate of Janet Wood (Joyce DeWitt) and Jack Tripper (John Ritter).

She also starred as Sheriff Hildy Granger in She’s the Sheriff from 1987 to 1989 and Carol Foster Lambert on Step by Step from 1991 to 1998.

Aside from her acting credits, Somers wrote more than 25 books during her lifetime and became a New York Times best-selling author. She primarily covered health and aging.

Somers was an advocate for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, which has been criticized by some doctors for being unproven. Somers and her husband, Alan Hamel, also popularized the ThighMaster exercise equipment.

She had previously been diagnosed with skin cancer in her 30s before her breast cancer battle began in 2000. Somers announced via Instagram in July that her cancer had returned.

Somers was survived by Hamel, whom she wed in 1977 after 10 years together. She was also a mother to her son, Bruce Jr., whom she welcomed with her first husband Bruce Somers in 1965, and stepmother to Hamel’s three daughters from his first marriage. She is also survived by several grandchildren.
