Born on Feb. 15, 1986 in Los Angeles, Calif., Amber Riley was a born performer. At 17 she auditioned for American Idol and after being turned down, she strived to make a name for herself.
She filmed a pilot for the TV series St. Sass, which was never picked up, and eventually landed a role on Cedric the Entertainer Presents.
Riley currently stars in the Fox’s breakout show Glee as diva-extrodinaire of the high school glee club, Mercedes Jones. The hit show earned Riley and her cast mates a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Riley also won the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars, where she was partnered with Derek Hough.
