Claire Danes was born in New York City on April 12, 1979. Beginning at the age of six, Danes began her performance career by taking modern dance, which she still practices today.
As an alumna of Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and the Professional Performing Arts School in New York, she went on to pursue a psychology degree at Yale University. After two years, she dropped out to focus on acting. Danes is best known for her roles in 1994’s drama Little Women and the teen soap My So-Called Life.
The actress married British actor Hugh Dancy in 2009 and the couple welcomed a son, Cyrus, in December 2012.
