“I’ve always been a workout fanatic, and I’ve always been in shape, but it also takes a lot of hard work to stay in shape,” the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star, 33, said in a clip from the Friday, May 17, episode of The Doctors. “A year ago to the day, my life completely changed. I had a little baby girl. She’s like my guardian angel, and now I can’t spend two to three hours every day in the gym like I used to.”

Ortiz-Magro quipped: “Gym, tan, laundry for me is now gym, tan, diapers.”

The reality star decided to “step out of my element and try something new with my body,” which led to a procedure with Dr. Christopher Khorsandi.

“We’re going to do something for Ronnie today that wasn’t even available 10 years ago. This is laser high-definition liposuction of the abdomen,” the plastic surgeon explained. “We’re going to be able to get that area in between each of his abs completely defined so that he actually has a six-pack for many, many years to come.”

Just days after the operation, Ortiz-Magro called in to The Doctors to provide an update on his healing. “I’m feeling like complete crap,” he admitted. “It has not been a good experience.”

The MTV star welcomed his first child with on-again, off-again girlfriend Jen Harley in April 2018. Ortiz-Magro divulged exclusively to Us Weekly in February that he checked in to a rehab center for approximately a month earlier this year as a result of depression and alcohol abuse.

The TV personality shared his post-treatment workout routine at the time. “I try to get to the gym every day. Before it was like, ‘Well, I’ve got to work out.’ [Now,] it’s like just get to the gym and release some blood in your body, get it moving,” he told Us. “It just makes you feel better and it helps your brain just start going, instead of just sitting there marinating on the couch.”

Ortiz-Magro credited a high-protein diet that cut out less-than-healthy snacks with improving his demeanor. “That’s another thing I noticed when I was drinking is, I would feel depressed,” he noted. “I would eat and I would just eat junk food. My thing was candies and chips and cake. It was just like I didn’t care. I would still go to the gym and work out, but I wasn’t getting the results that I used to get.”

The Doctors airs weekdays.
