“Sometimes it’s miserable,” the Boy Meets World alum, 38, told Us Weekly exclusively at the Bloom Summit presented by New Bloom Media and @beautymomme on Saturday, June 1. “I mean, I’m eight and a half months and when it’s over, it will not be over a day too soon, I can tell you that much.”
That being said, the actress told Us that she hasn’t taken the positive parts of her pregnancy for granted. “I didn’t have any morning sickness, I haven’t had indigestion,” Fishel explained. “I’m still comfortable sleeping, I’m sleeping pretty well. So I’m really lucky that way, and yet, it is still very uncomfortable to just be lugging around this much extra weight and just to be leading with your stomach. Once you really start showing, there’s no hiding it, so it’s the topic of conversation everywhere you go. You always feel like you want to give a positive and uplifting answer, and some days, you’re just like, ‘I’m over it. I’m just super uncomfortable and I’m over it.’”
The Arizona native added: “I had one of those days yesterday. I feel like sometimes he’s clawing his way through my ab muscles, like, just separating my ab muscles, trying to peek his way out. And I’m like, ‘There’s, like, an alien growing inside me, but an alien that I already love.’”
To ease her pain, Karp, 39, has been giving his wife daily foot and belly massages, which have come with added benefits. “[They have] been keeping my skin soft and I haven’t dealt with stretch marks yet,” Fishel told Us.
Her former costars have been helpful as well. Rider Strong has been doling out advice, warning the pregnant star against pacifiers, while Will Friedle and his wife, Susan Martens. live close by and “check in to see if they can bring [her] anything.” Strong welcomed a baby, Indigo, with his wife, Alexandra Barreto, in 2014.
The Normally, This Would Be Cause for Concern author and the comedian announced in January that they have a little one on the way.
“I’m eating for two,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’m napping with wild abandon. Baby shoes. Baby clothes. (I’m shopping). I’m nesting. I’m reading books,” she wrote on an Instagram post, which features three pairs of sneakers to represent their growing family. “I’m madly in love with my husband. I cry at commercials. I”m a walking cliché. I’ve got baby apps. I’m confident. I feel inadequate. I’m showing one day and the next I’m not. I’m nervous. I’m excited. He’s due in July. We can’t wait.”
Until his arrival, the couple have been working on their son’s nursery, which features his name in lights. “We joke, ‘Well, we could change [his name], but it would be a very expensive change at this point,'” Fishel told Us. “We’re waiting until he arrives to tell anybody and then we’ll make it known.”
