Duchess Kate gave a glimpse into her life behind the gates of Kensington Palace — and it involves lots of snuggling with her kids George, 5, Charlotte, 3, and Louis, 6 months.
“Hugs are very important. That’s what I tell my children,” Kate, 36, revealed during a speaking engagement at the Basildon Sporting Village in Essex with Prince William on Tuesday, October 30.
Kate shared her parenting philosophy after breaking royal protocol and accepting the embrace of a fan named Janet Emery.
Back in May, the Duchess of Cambridge opened up about her brood in a letter for Children’s Hospice Week. “Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it’s the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish,” she wrote.
Kate and William, 36, are committed to raising good people. “William and Kate very much prioritize bringing up the children in as normal an environment as possible over anything else,” a royal insider told Us Weekly in September. “They haven’t lost sight of that.”
While George is shy, his sister, Charlotte is “very bubbly” and extroverted, according to the source. “She’s definitely the biggest character of the three children at the moment,” the insider explained, adding that when friends visit the family’s Apartment 1A, “she’ll come up to guests and ask them if they want tea or coffee or offer them sweets!”
As for baby Louis, the couple lucked out with is happy-go-lucky disposition. “He’s very quiet and content,” the source told Us. “Always smiling and happy.”
