Kylie Kelce is shedding light on how she handles life in the public eye with her and Jason Kelce‘s four daughters.

“Our kids our young, and obviously there are situations we can’t control, like being out in public and whatever,” Kylie, 34, said on the Thursday, November 5, episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast while speaking with guest Joanna Gaines about how she raised five kids in the spotlight. “I always say, like, we’re not gonna hole up in our house and keep our kids hidden. We’re not hermits.”

Kylie said she and Jason, 39, want their daughters — Wyatt, 7, Ellie, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finn, 19 months — to “experience the world” in a typical way.

“But at the same time, it’s interesting to try and navigate those moments with kids,” she continued. “I always explain it that I think people sort of lose sight and their excitement overrides social etiquette or proper social behavior. And their excitement is like, ‘Oh, my gosh, that’s whoever,’ and it’s like, whoever is 5 years old.”

Kylie went on to describe the conversations she has with her little ones about being out in public.

“Every single time we get out of the car when we’re going somewhere, I’m like, ‘Just because someone knows mom’s name does not mean that mom knows them,’ or ‘Just because someone might call you by your name, you might not know them.’ And so, those are the moments where I’m like, I have to prepare my 7, 5 and 3 year old for adults that can’t get on the other side of an appropriate social interaction.”

Gaines, 48, commended Kylie for how her “healthy” approach to her newfound fame. The interior designer and husband Chip Gaines also raised their children in the public eye amid the success of their show Fixer Upper, which debuted on HGTV in 2013.

“I hope that they are prepared for that and I hope that they don’t feel uncomfortable,” Kylie added of her daughters. “You don’t want to put your kids in a situation where they don’t feel comfy.”

While the Kelces were local legends in Philadelphia for years during Jason’s time playing on the Eagles, they became more widely recognized when his brother, Travis Kelce, began dating Taylor Swift in 2023. The pair tied the knot in New York City this summer, with Jason serving as Travis’ best man during the ceremony at Madison Square Garden.

The tight end and the pop star also included Jason and Kylie’s daughters in the celebration as flower girls.

“It was a special event for our entire family, and obviously my daughters are incredible,” Jason told reporters at the American Century Championship in July. “They’re beautiful, they’re incredible personalities. And Travis and Taylor love them. So, very happy we were able to be a part of it. And more importantly, very happy for those two. It was an amazing day.”
