Jessica Simpson’s 5-year-old son Ace is rolling into 2019 with a whole new look.
“He really wanted short hair,” Simpson, 38, explained in a Wednesday, December 26, Instagram post. “It broke my heart a little, but we did it!! My little man.” In the picture, the little boy showed off his chop.
It appears that Ace made the change gradually. On December 9, the kindergartner sported a bob-like style at his school’s winter program.
Ace’s shoulder-length locks sparked controversy in 2017, after the singer-turned-business mogul posted a snap that showed off his blonde mane. “I thought that was your director. Sorry but he is a boy and needs a cut,” wrote one troll on Instagram. Added another: “What? No hair stylist where u live? All this time I’m thinking it’s a girl… spike it or something.”
Simpson, who loves showing off Ace and his big sister, Maxwell, 6, on social media, will soon have a new face to photograph. The Dukes of Hazzard actress and husband Eric Johnson are expecting a baby girl.
Simpson announced in September that she and the retired football player, 39, are expanding their brood. A source told Us Weekly that the couple, who tied the knot in 2014, were “surprised but overjoyed” when they discovered Simpson is expecting their third child. “Jessica and Eric are over the moon,” the insider added. “They are so happy and very excited.”
The Texas native will be leaning on her sister Ashlee Simpson when the baby arrives. (Ashlee and her husband, Evan Ross, are parents of Jagger, 3. She is also mom of Bronx, 10, with former spouse, Pete Wentz.)
“We both give each other advice,” Ashlee told Us in November. “Actually, I don’t think it’s advice. We just talk to each other about things.”
