Nikki Bella’s eyes light up whenever she discusses her 12-month-old niece, Birdie.
“She’s given me a lot of baby fever. She makes me wanna be a mom like no other,” the Total Divas star, 34, revealed during a recent interview with Us Weekly. “I never realized unconditional love till Birdie and now I see this little girl and I would do anything for her in a heartbeat.”
“Even when she slaps you!” teased Nikki’s twin sister Brie Bella, who was also on hand to promote their E! reality series.
“I get slapped so much,” declared Nikki. “I’m like, ‘Geez.’”
Nikki’s desire to have a family was a point of tension in her relationship with ex-fiancé John Cena. The wrestlers revealed to Us Weekly on April 15 that after six years together, they were ending their engagement. WWE champion Cena, 40, proposed at WrestleMania 33 in April 2017, and they were planning to tie the knot on May 5.
Though the Daddy’s Home 2 actor declared during a Monday, May 14, appearance on Today that he has had a change of heart about starting a family, Nikki thinks he has an ulterior motive. “She is concerned that John is only saying he wants to have kids to get her back,” a source told Us.
While Nikki is certain she will have a child of her own one day, for now she is focusing on Brie’s daughter, Birdie. When the sisters sat down with Us, Brie joked that by the time Nikki has a baby, Birdie can babysit.
“No!” exclaimed Nikki. “Oh, my God. That’s too far.”
As for Nikki and Cena’s decision to part ways, children weren’t the only factor. In March, he told Us that “relationships are hard” and that love is beautiful but never easy.
