Royal baby, the sequel! With the birth of Kate Middleton's baby imminent, Prince William's first cousin, Zara Phillips has some baby news of her own: She's pregnant! On Monday, July 8, Queen Elizabeth's eldest granddaughter announced that she and husband of nearly two years, rugby player Mike Tindall, are expecting their first child.
"Mr. and Mrs. Mike Tindall are very pleased to announced that Zara Tindall is expecting a baby in the New Year," a rep for Buckingham Palace tells Us Weekly in a statement. An Olympic equestrian, the 32-year-old mom-to-be is the daughter of Princess Royal Anne and first husband Captain Phillips and is currently 14th in line for the British throne.
Adds the Palace of the expectant grandparents: "The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, Mr. Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, and members of both families are delighted with the news. This baby will be the first child for Mike and Zara and the third grandchild for The Princess Royal." (Nearly 63, Princess Anne is Queen Elizabeth's second eldest child, and her only daughter.) The baby-to-be will be Queen Elizabeth's fourth great-grandchild.
In the early stages of her pregnancy, Zara, who won a silver medal at the London Olympics last July (one year after wedding Tindall, 34) has not yet slowed down much: She competed in two horse-riding events over the weekend, finishing in fourth place at the Saturday Open Novice competition with her steed, CG Master Lux.
