Not mincing any words! Ariel Winter clarified rumors that she’s dating longtime pal Sterling Beaumon with a tweet on Friday, September 2, setting the record straight.
“Everyone thinking I’m taken when I’m just over here like hi I’m single AF,” the 18-year-old Modern Family star wrote, alongside a GIF of a cartoon slice of bread popping out of a toaster.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in August, she similarly shut down rumors of the pair as a romantic item.
“We’ve been best friends for 10 years. We’re not dating,” she told the news outlet at the time. “We see each other every day, but no, we’re, like, literally best friends. … I’ve just kinda, like, been single for a little while now. I’ve enjoyed it, and if something happens, it happens.”

Speculation that Winter and Beaumon, 21, are actually more than friends began a few months ago after the pair were spotted attending several Hollywood events together, including Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood party and the SkySpace Launch Party.
Winter and her boyfriend Laurent Claude Gaudette split in June after more than two years of dating, and the actress has kept a relatively low profile about her dating life since.
Both she and the producer, singer, and songwriter stopped following each other on social media, and in May, Winter attended her senior prom sans date, posting a telling Instagram photo that hinted at their split.
“Middle fingers up/ Put them hands high/ Wave it in his face/ Tell him boy bye,” she quoted from Beyoncé’s song “Sorry.” In the black-and-white snapshot, Winter is not-so-subtly throwing up two middle fingers.
