Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and engagement rings are too! Bachelorette star Desiree Hartsock‘s love story with suitor Chris Siegfried ended with a fairytale proposal on the Aug. 5 season finale, and the former pro baseball player fortunately had a gem worthy of his blushing bride-to-be.
Siegfried, who dropped to one knee to ask for Hartsock’s hand in marriage during the surprising finale, presented her with a 4-carat sparkler featuring a cushion-cut diamond.
Designed by go-to jeweler Neil Lane, the ring features more than 200 small diamonds dotting the intertwining rose gold and platinum band.
“You make me want to be a better person, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” the earnest bachelor told Des during his heartfelt proposal. “I don’t want to make decisions for me anymore; I want to make decisions for you, and us, and our lives together.”
“Desiree Hartsock,” he said as he dropped to one knee, the ring box displayed before him. “I want to be your first, and I want to be your last. Will you marry me?”
Des, who had been supposedly wound up over another finalist, bachelor Brooks Forester, couldn’t resist gushing over her soon-to-be fiance either.
“I feel like I was blindsided by my feelings for Brooks, that I couldn’t see that the one thing I always needed was right in front of me,” she told Siegfried during the final rose ceremony. “You have been by my side from the very beginning … I thank you every day for never giving up. And you mean the absolute world to me. I love you. I love you so much.”
