She luh you, Puffy! Sean “Diddy” Combs revealed how his longtime girlfriend, Cassie, reacted to his reunion with his most-famous ex, Jennifer Lopez, at the 2015 American Music Awards in November, and like Us, she had many, many questions.
“My woman at the end of the day, you know, she ain’t have a problem with it,” Diddy, 46, told Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club on Friday, April 1. Diddy then paused and reflected for a moment. “She had some questions. She had some questions,” he reiterated with a laugh.
Cassie, though, had nothing to worry about, especially since Lopez’s current boyfriend, Casper Smart, was at the event. “But nah, nah, you know, Casper was there. Me and Jennifer … people gonna be friends, man,” Diddy continued. “People gonna grow, and, you know, any of my exes, they smile, and they’re happy to see me, you know what I’m saying? And that’s all that was about. And, you know, I answered the question.”
Diddy and Lopez famously dated from 1999 to 2001, and even attended the Grammys together in 2000 (when the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer wore that infamous green dress on the red carpet). In an interview with Vibe magazine in 2003, Lopez claimed that the root of their split was Diddy cheating — supposedly.
“I never caught him, but I just knew,” she said at the time. “He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never come back that night.”
Despite the rocky breakup, the multi-hyphenates have remained amicable, found love (multiple times!) and built their respective empires. After their romance, Lopez was married to dancer Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, followed by her high-profile engagement to Ben Affleck, which ended in January 2004. She married Marc Anthony in 2004, and the parents of twins Max and Emme, 8, finalized their divorce in 2014. The singer has since been on and off again with dancer-choreographer Smart.
Diddy, meanwhile, has been dating “Me & U” singer Cassie Ventura on and off since 2007.
The two reunited last November at the 2015 American Music Awards, where Diddy gave J. Lo a shout-out on stage. Both exes also attended The Perfect Match premiere on March 7, in Hollywood, and they were joined by their significant others.
