If you think training for a Super Bowl is hard, try training for a halftime show.
On Wednesday, January 13, Donald Faison with Pepsi, who are sponsors of the Super Bowl halftime show, are kicking off part 1 of his four-part comedic series, Camp Halftime, to prepare fans for the big game’s highly anticipated performances.
With Camp Halftime, the actor trains the halftime performers for their big moment. In the first installment, the comedian coaches and prepares a young dancer through her performance — and tries to distract her with the obstacles associated with a halftime performance, such as Chris Martin’s helicopter needing to land on the grass and the game restarting before the halftime show is even over.
“When Pepsi said you’re going to be doing a halftime show thing, I thought I’d have on, like, football pads or introduce something. Like, play football or something like that — I had no idea I was going to be a choreographer,” the 41-year-old tells Us Weekly. “It’s fine, though, because I do know how to shake my ass; I know how to shake my tail feather.”
Check out Faison’s choreography skills in the first episode of Camp Halftime below. The Super Bowl halftime show, featuring Coldplay and Beyoncé, is on CBS February 7 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
