Did he or didn’t he? Eddie Redmayne has addressed the rumors he once dated Taylor Swift, and he’s denied them!
But that’s not to say the British Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them star didn’t make sweet music with the country music pop princess.
Chatting with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday, November 16, Redmayne was asked by a viewer about his alleged 2012 romance with Swift.
“I absolutely can put the rumors to rest,” he said, when questioned over the reports he romanced the the star. “I never went out on a date with Taylor Swift. Although I met Taylor Swift.”
The 34-year-old then revealed details of the “Shake It Off” singer, 26, trying out for the Oscar-winning movie Les Misérables.
“She auditioned for Les Misérables and she was amazing in the audition,” he said. “We got to sing together, which was a big moment for me. But no, we never went out. She was extraordinary.”

Redmayne played the dashing hero, Marius, in the film, and Swift was hoping to snag the role of his lover, Epinone, a part Hayden Panettiere, Scarlett Johansson, Lea Michele and Lucy Hale were all reportedly up for. The role eventually went to Samantha Barks.
During his interview with Cohen, the actor was also asked why his costar Anne Hathaway got such “flak” for her leading role as Fantine.
“I honestly don’t know, because I think she’s formidable,” he admitted. “I think she was kind of extraordinary in that film. It was an amazing thing because we were doing it live and it was the first time any of us had done it. One person would go and sing live for the first time and come and sort of report back, and how it had gone. She basically educated the rest of us on how to do it.”
Redmayne has been married to his PR executive wife, Hannah Bagshawe, since 2014 and they had a baby girl, Iris, in June 2016.
