Can't just shake this one out. Florence + the Machine's lead singer Florence Welch is sidelined after breaking her foot this past weekend.
The British performer, 28, injured herself in the middle of the band's show at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Sunday, April 12. Welch played to a packed crowd in Indio, Calif. and was so invigorated by the gig that she leapt from the stage but had a bad landing.
"Hi everyone, I'm so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favorite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage," the "Dog Days Are Over" singer wrote in a Facebook post on the band's official page on Tuesday, April 14.
"Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back," Welch continued. "I'm so sorry, I'm pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows. I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope its just as enjoyable. I'm going to try and make it super special for you."
Florence + the Machine will return to the Coachella stage this coming Sunday for the festival's second weekend. The band also has a busy upcoming tour schedule with stops in New York City, Boston, Toronto, France, and Portugal. The musicians are also one of the headlining acts for June's Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
"By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet," added Welch, who is set to debut Florence + the Machine's third studio album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful in June. "This album was so much about making something from what was broken, so lets see what we can do with this. All my love, Florence."
