He's #WithHer. George Clooney threw his support behind Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton in a letter to her supporters on Monday, March 21.
In the letter — which invited fellow Clinton fans to enter a lottery for a chance to attend a fundraiser in her honor at Clooney's home — the Hail, Caesar! actor commended the former secretary of state while taking a few not-so-subtle digs at the Republican front-runner, Donald Trump.
"If you listen to the loudest voices out there today, you'd think we're a country that hates Mexicans, hates Muslims, and thinks that committing war crimes is the best way to make America great again," Clooney, 54, wrote in the letter, per CNN. (He was referring, of course, to statements Trump has made on the campaign trail, as well as to the real estate mogul's slogan.)
"The truth is that the only thing that would prevent America from being great would be to empower these voices," he continued.
Then, turning his attention to Clinton, 68, he wrote, "In all of this clutter, there's been one consistent voice. A voice of tolerance and experience, from a candidate who's spent a lifetime fighting for the rights of the less fortunate. A candidate who knows firsthand the complexity of our international relationships."
The Gravity star — who is hosting the Clinton fundraiser with his wife, human rights attorney Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) — went on to praise the former first lady as "the only grown-up in the room. And if ever there was a time for a grown-up, that time is now."
Clinton is running against Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination. Clooney has been a supporter of hers for years and said in 2015 that he would help her campaign "in whatever way he can."
