No burnin’ romance here! Joe Jonas and Gigi Hadid may be hanging out more now that she’s single again following her split from Cody Simpson, but they’re doing so just as friends.
The 25-year-old I Can Do That! star told Access Hollywood Live on Thursday, May 21, that he’s “a single man,” despite the slew of recent pics showing him with Yolanda Foster‘s model daughter Hadid, 20.
“Joe, I’m just happy you’re happy,” co-host Kit Hoover told him. “To be young and in love…Maybe we’re envious over here.”
“Just puttin’ words in my mouth, huh?” he joked. Then, alluding to Tom Cruise‘s infamous declaration of love for now-ex-wife Katie Holmes on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005, he added, “Do you want me to jump up and down on the couch?”
The singer, who grabbed lunch with Hadid just last week, has not publicly dated anyone since his split from girlfriend Blanda Eggenschwiler last August. Prior to that, he romanced Camilla Belle, Demi Lovato, and Taylor Swift.
Swift — now dating Calvin Harris — wrote several songs about her breakup with Jonas, including the 2009 hit “Forever and Always,” which was all about broken promises. These days, though, the two are on much better terms.
“She’s great. We’re friends,” Jonas told Access Hollywood of the “Style” hitmaker, adding that writing songs about other people is just “part of being a musician.”
The two don’t necessarily hang out all the time, but they do have mutual friends — including Hadid, who appeared in Swift’s star-studded “Bad Blood” music video.
“I think in this industry, you meet a lot of people and you stay in touch,” Jonas said of his ex. “Obviously, it’s tough to be friends with people that are always constantly traveling, but yeah, we’re cool.”
