John Legend admits it wasn't love at first sight with wife Chrissy Teigen

Say what?! John Legend admitted to Los Angeles Confidential magazine that it wasn’t love at first sight when he met his now-wife Chrissy Teigen seven years ago.

The nine-time Grammy winner, who appears on the magazine’s December/January issue in a sharp-looking suit, was candid when asked if he immediately loved the model.

“Not right away,” Legend, 35, admitted. “I’m more cautious than that. I wasn’t like, ‘This is the woman I’m going to marry’ from day one. For me I’m the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever.”

The couple, who met on the set of Legend’s “Stereo” music video in 2007, wed in September 2013. And given the lyrics behind Legend’s hit song “All of Me,” which he wrote about Teigen, it’s safe to say he’s grown into the feeling.

Teigen, for her part, has been vocal about how she didn’t rush the singer into “I do.” In an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine this past June, the Sports Illustrated stunner, 28, admitted she kept him guessing.

“I’m not going to lie. We hooked up. [And then when he went on tour] I left him by himself for a while,” she said. “The worst thing you can do is try to lock someone like that down early on, then have them think, ‘There’s so much more out there.’ I played it cool for a long time. Never once did I ask, ‘What are we?’ Marriage was never my goal, because I’ve never been very traditional. I was just happy to be with him.”
