Justin Bieber has negotiated a settlement for allegedly egging his neighbor's house back in January. The "Heartbreaker" singer, 20, pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor vandalism for the incident, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office announced in a press release on Wednesday, July 9.
Bieber's lawyers entered the no contest plea on his behalf before Judge Leland Harris in Van Nuys, Calif. In exchange for the plea, the pop star will complete five days of community labor, as well as an anger management program.
Additionally, the press release stated, he has been ordered to pay $80,900 in restitution, and to stay away from his former neighbor and the neighbor's family for two years. He will also be on formal probation for those 24 months.
Bieber has been under investigation for the egg-throwing incident since early January, when his neighbor in Calabasas, Calif., alleged that the then-19-year-old crooner egged his home to the tune of $20,000 in damages. Not long after the confrontation, police raided Bieber's house looking for evidence.
"I can confirm we have served a search warrant at Justin Bieber's residence as part of a felony vandalism investigation," an LAPD spokesman told the New York Daily News at the time. "He is there, and we are right now in the process of serving the warrant. We're looking for anything we might need to move this investigation forward."
Findings from the investigation were turned over in early February to the District Attorney's Office, which announced earlier on July 9 that the singer would be charged with a misdemeanor, not a felony.
