Epic, alright! Kristen Stewart took a trip down memory lane in Harper’s Bazaar UK‘s May 2015 cover story, and remembered her “epic” sex scene with her ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson in the 2011 movie, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I.
“I only hate them when they’re contrived,” she said. “That’s when it’s grotesquely uncomfortable. On Twilight we had to do the most epic sex scene of all time. It had to be transcendent and otherworldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine, and we were like, ‘How do we live up to that?'”
Although Stewart was in a real-life romance with Pattinson at the time, the lovemaking on set was “agony,” she recalled. “Which sucks, because I wanted it to be so good.” (As the real saga goes, Stewart cheated on her British beau with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders back in July 2012. She and Pattinson briefly split, then got back together, ultimately parting ways in 2013.)
As for watching her Hollywood peers in steamy on-screen moments? “I just even question when a fairly established actress does a scene in a movie,” Stewart noted. “When she shows her boobs and she hasn’t done it up until this moment, and maybe she only did it for the prestigious part and it’s okay for this time because it’s classy.”
Her reaction? “I’m like, ‘Oh God, thank you for revealing to the world your treasure,'” the dry-humored actress sarcastically noted.
Stewart used this as an example to discuss the double standards in Hollywood. “Women inevitably have to work a little bit harder to be heard,” she said. “Hollywood is disgustingly sexist. It’s crazy. It’s so offensive it’s crazy.”
With Twilight nearly three years behind her, and her relationship with Pattinson two years back in the rearview mirror, Stewart has been focused on her health and personal happiness.
“I’m a little bigger than sample size when I’m eating cheeseburgers and am happy and comfortable,” she noted. “If I’m stressed or working, the weight falls off. My weight and my sleep are tied to my nervous system. Sometimes I’ll sleep for 12 hours a night and sometimes sleep just doesn’t exist for me for a couple of months.”
