No hasty decisions here! Liam Hemsworth defended his decision to pop the question to then-girlfriend Miley Cyrus back in 2012 during a recent interview.
“I don’t think that was impulsive,” he told News.com.au of his proposal at the time. “That was a well thought-out idea.”
The Independence Day: Resurgence actor was just 22 and Cyrus was 19 when he asked for her hand in marriage; the pair split one year later. Now, at 26, the Australian hunk and Cyrus, 23, are engaged once more, as a source exclusively confirmed to Us in January.
“Miley and Liam are 100 percent back on,” the insider told Us, adding that Hemsworth has “told friends they’re engaged again.”
The pair moved in together, and when Hemsworth injured his back in early 2016 (“I do like doing things that give me an adrenaline rush,” he told News.com.au), Cyrus was on-hand to nurse him back to health.
“[She] has been cooking and cleaning for Liam, waiting on him hand and foot,” a source told Us about Cyrus’ role at the Aussie’s $6.8 million Malibu pad. “She wants to make sure she keeps him.”
“I was planning on having time off anyway, which is good because I couldn’t have worked if I wanted to,” Hemsworth added.
Though the “Wrecking Ball” singer and her Hunger Games beau have kept largely mum about their reconciliation, Cyrus did take to her Instagram on Sunday, June 19, to show fans who has her heart.
The former Disney star posted a photo of herself wearing a white T-shirt with the name “Hemsworth” emblazoned on the back, captioning the snapshot with three heart-eyed cat emojis.
“Miley and Liam are doing amazing,” a source told Us of their rekindled romance. “She seems so grounded and happy. Miley is texting [Liam’s sister-in-law] Elsa [Pataky] and other members of Liam’s family again. They’ve seemed to welcome her with open arms.” The pair have been frequently spotted spending time with his family, and Cyrus spent New Year’s with the Hemsworths at their home Down Under.
According to an insider, the pair is already thinking ahead to their wedding, which they hope to have in Hemsworth’s native Australia.
“Miley’s mentioned she’s interested in having a bunch of bouncy houses,” one source told Us. “Like at a carnival!” Cyrus’ mom, Tish, has even started helping the singer with her vows.
Cyrus and Hemsworth first met on the 2009 set of The Last Song and began dating shortly afterward.
