Martha's on the market! More than a year after she created an online dating profile on Match.com, Martha Stewart is still searching for someone to light her fire. "I'm looking for a partner," she said in a recent interview for the June/July issue of Haute Living New York.
"Love will have something to do with it, I'm sure," she teased, smiling. "I'd love to have a more regular male companion." She's not looking for just any old Joe, though—she's on a quest to find someone "appropriate."
"An amenable kind of person," she explained. "There are plenty of people who I could date that would be inappropriate. Married men, for example."
The once-divorced homemaking mogul, 72, has been very open about her desire to find a suitable suitor. Last year on the Today show, she spoke about signing up for Match.com. In her profile for the site, she wrote that while plugging her book Living the Good Long Life, she was "reminded how central good relationships are to happiness and longevity."
She added, "I've always been a big believer that technology, if used well, can enhance one's life. So here I am, looking to enhance my dating life." Her ideal man, she said, is "someone who's intelligent, established, and curious; and who relishes adventure and new experiences…A lover of animals, grandchildren, and the outdoors. Young at heart."
Until she finds that man, though, she has her pets to keep her company. "At my home I have 20 canaries, countless chickens, numerous magician doves—they keep having babies!—four cats, three dogs, five horses, three donkeys…and the cows are coming soon," Stewart told Haute Living. "I don't know if people realize how much I really like animals. I believe that having pets is a fantastic thing."
